Fire Protection Beyond Water
Special Hazard & Clean Agent Fire Protection
Water isn’t always the right answer when it comes to fire protection. For sensitive environments like data centers, labs, or cultural institutions, traditional sprinklers could do more harm than good. Capitol Sprinkler & Fire Systems provides special hazard and clean agent fire protection solutions that suppress fires quickly—without water, residue, or damage to your valuable equipment and assets.
Why Special Hazard & Clean Agent Fire Protection Matters
Clean agent fire protection is designed for environments where traditional sprinklers could cause catastrophic damage. These systems suppress fires instantly without water, making them ideal for facilities that rely on sensitive equipment, critical data, or irreplaceable assets. Our Special Hazard Services

Clean Agent System Installation and Design
We design and install clean agent systems that match your building’s specific risks and layout. After evaluating your space and equipment, we determine the right solution—FM-200, NOVEC 1230, CO₂, or another agent—and engineer the system for fast, reliable performance. We test the enclosure to ensure proper containment and integrate the system with your alarms so everything works together during an emergency.

Inspections, Maintenance & Repairs
Clean agent systems need regular care to stay reliable. We provide required inspections, NFPA testing, and post-discharge restoration, including recharging and system reset. If a problem occurs, our technicians are available 24/7 to troubleshoot and repair issues so your system stays ready and your business stays protected.
Compliance & Technology
Our systems are designed to meet NFPA standards and Texas fire code requirements. We use advanced detection technology, including:
Air-sampling smoke detectors
These detectors constantly analyze air samples to identify smoke at the earliest stages. Their sensitivity makes them ideal for high-value or high-risk environments where even minor smoke can cause major disruptions. Early detection helps prevent system downtime and reduces the chance of fire spreading.
Flame and heat detection devices
Flame and heat detectors identify fires quickly in areas where smoke detection may be less effective. They respond to rapid temperature changes or flame signatures, providing fast and dependable warning. This adds an extra layer of protection in demanding industrial or specialized environments.
Networked alarm integration for early warning
Integrated alarm systems link detection equipment with suppression systems for coordinated response. When one device activates, the entire system communicates instantly for faster action. This improves building-wide safety and ensures your clean agent system activates when it matters most.

FAQs About Special Hazard & Clean Agent Systems
What is a clean agent system and how does it work?
Clean agent systems use specialized gases to suppress fires by removing heat or oxygen. They extinguish flames quickly without water, leaving no residue behind.
Which clean agent is right for my facility?
The right solution depends on your environment. FM-200 and NOVEC 1230 are common in data centers, while CO₂ systems may be used in certain industrial applications. We’ll design a system based on your specific risks.
How often do clean agent systems need to be inspected?
Clean agent systems typically require annual inspections, with additional testing based on system design and occupancy type. Our team ensures you remain compliant with NFPA and Texas state requirements.
Will clean agents harm electronics or sensitive materials?
No. Clean agents are safe for use around electronics, documents, and artifacts. They suppress fire without damaging delicate assets.
What happens after a clean agent system discharges?
After a discharge, the system must be recharged and inspected before returning to service. Capitol Sprinkler provides 24/7 emergency response to restore your system quickly.

The individual attention I receive from my operations manager is by far the best I've received in the business in over 20 years. He's personable, prompt, professional and explains everything to me in layman's terms so that I can understand! In the rare occasions that I have a leak spring up, James is quick to get the issue resolved. When I had more than a "leak" but a coupling that gave way, he personally was there giving a helping hand to get the work corrected timely. Hands down one of the best service providers I have the pleasure of working with. We have used Capitol Sprinkler for several years now and they never let us down. They are great at what they do and their customer service is superior!Posted on Christy SprinkleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Capitol Sprinkler, and their Operations Manager, James Puckett, are amazing. I am involved in a condominium community with an outdated fire protection system (heads, pipes, panel, backflow, all of it), with various different failed inspection items across different buildings. It was very overwhelming and difficult to battle all at once or even begin until we found Capitol Sprinkler. We tried to work with many other companies before that but all of them seemed to struggle making any progress. James worked with us patiently and provided practical solutions to correct the items one-by-one. Both he and the owner, Ben Griffin, have also been instrumental in helping us engage with our insurance and the fire marshal where appropriate while we work to correct our system. It has never felt like they are in it for the money. Our safety and practical solutions for our community have been their top priority. Thank you so much Ben, James and your team at Capitol Sprinkler.Posted on John LawsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. During a routine (semi-annual) inspection of exhaust hoods and their fire suppression systems, the ANSUL was accidentally tripped on a 60 foot cook line affecting the 16 foodservice businesses operating in our shared kitchen space at Prep ATX. Capital Sprinkler & Fire Systems' director of operations was on site within 15 minutes of receiving the call from his technician onsite. Within minutes of his arrival he made the calls necessary to dispatch all available technicians to immediately begin the process of cleaning up the discharged chemical from the hoods, filters, and cooking equipment below the hood. There were a total of eight persons on site from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. getting the clean up accomplished. No one took a lunch, no one took a break, no one had "other things to do". They came, and they stayed until the last drop was mopped and dried up. It is extremely rare to find a contractor that is more concerned with solving the immediate problem than their personal concern for negating responsibility in these situations. It is this "let's fix the problem first" attitude that makes Capital Sprinkler & Fire Systems the outstanding contractor that they are. Prep ATX is proud and privileged to have Capital Sprinkler and Fire Systems as a preferred vending partner and will be happy to recommend their services, across the board.
